Overview
The one to one coaching sessions support customers with learning difficulties, learning disabilties or autism in the West of England, to build their confidence and motivation and prepare them to source and apply for jobs and perform at interview.
Individuals will be assigned an experienced coach and they will be supported to develop a personalised plan to work towards finding employment or accessing future opportunities.
The Employment Coach will work with customers to:
- Assess their needs
- Find out what they want to achieve
- Find the right training opportunities
- Provide support with job searching
- Support the application process
- Prepare for interviews

- Our skilled coaches will ensure that even those with the most challenging barriers and complex needs progress
- Suitable for all customer groups and age ranges that identify with a learning difficulty or autism
Customers naturally gain greater confidence, self esteem and self-awareness.
When customers have successfully found paid employment, we will continue to support them in their new role. Our Employment Coaches will be with individuals every step of the way, using a person-centred approach to help them feel comfortable and confident.

Employability
Length: 10 days or 1-2-1 sessions
The programme is designed to help socially excluded long term unemployed individuals gain greater self-awareness of the strengths they have to offer to an employer through coaching and group work. The activities will help to build confidence, improve self-esteem and develop skills to meet any future employer’s needs and allow the customer to get the right job. The 10 days will offer each participant:
- A combination of high intensity one to one sessions with dovetailed group work
- Person centred delivery in an inclusive and friendly environment
- Help to identify skills, strengths and attributes
- Build and improve confidence and motivation
- Identify individual areas of development
- Develop a CV, interview techniques and job interview etiquette
- Develop skills for job searching, job applications and navigation of job sites
- Understand dress code and personal presentation for interview
- Look after personal well-being & managing money
- Set realistic goals by action planning

Executive re-employment
Length: 5 days
Motiv-8 have developed a bespoke service in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic for senior management personnel who are at risk of or have been made redundant. Our Executive Coaching offer allows executives to identify their purpose and give them a fast-track service to enable them to re-enter employment. This 5 day programme will focus on:
- Clearly identifying an individual’s purpose and future employment desires
- Recognising transferable skills and competency set
- Critical thinking and teamwork
- Production of a holistic action plan with SMART targets
- Defining goals and desired outcomes and committing to action
- Equipping participants with up to date media skills including for those less digitally confident
- Reviewing CV’s and ensuring they are fit for purpose for modern day job searching
- Supporting completion of job applications and practicing interview techniques
- Understanding employer needs, speculative applications and networking

Pre-release
Length: 1 day
Our single day programme helps customers prepare for release by giving them an understanding of community based support they can receive, where and how they can get this support and how it can help them become a full member of society.
The programme is highly flexible and can be delivered in a group workshop setting, one-to-one or a mixture of both. It can also be run in conjunction with our community programmes as part of a through the gate service.
The day covers:
Details of support agencies for:
- Securing stable accommodation.
- Health and wellbeing;
- Moving towards and into sustainable employment.
Practical advice such as:
- How to register with a GP/dentist;
- How to open a bank account;
- Obtaining the correct documentation for housing and employment.
Employability advice:
- The current labour market;
- What employers are looking for;
- How to secure employment including networking, job search, CVs and interviews;
- Making a positive disclosure;
- Risk and safeguarding.
The day will be informal and will include video clips where agencies can introduce their services. These will also include testimonials from ex-offenders who talk through how their circumstances have been improved with the right support.

Newly (or at risk of) homeless programme
Length: Variable – based on needs of the individual
We have tailored our coaching to discover individual issues and motivations and then meet the needs of complex individuals who may be at risk or find themselves homeless. We prioritise the right actions in the right order to support them as individuals to resolve their problems and rejoin society.

Kickstart employer support
Length: 2 weeks
The Kickstart Scheme is a Government initiative that provides funding to employers to create job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit for six months. Motiv-8 offers a support service to employers who engage with this scheme to develop and prepare their selected candidates for work.

Torbay Ready For Work
Length: Sessions over a 6 week period
The Ready for Work scheme has been funded by Torbay Council and is in conjunction with TDA to support unemployed people from across Torbay (Brixham, Paignton and Torquay) back into sustained work. The Ready for Work scheme incorporates six stages all designed to help customers learn the necessary skills to move from being unemployed into meaningful work. The programme is delivered by both highly skilled performance and employment engagement coaches and it offers the following:
- A staged programme with sessions that involve both one-to-one coaching and group sessions
- Help to improve confidence, motivation and resilience
- Opportunity to gain greater self-awareness and help to identify individual strengths
- Support to identify skills and define competency set
- Setting realistic & challenging goals, followed by realistic action planning
- Development of a solid CV, appropriate for todays modern world
- Preparation for sourcing and applying for jobs
- Knowledge and identification of local labour market requirements
- Employer Engagement and job matching
- Ongoing in work support
This funded programme also offers a two-day Fast Track for those with a level three qualification or above and who are more recently unemployed or at risk of redundancy. It is designed to hone skills, polish CV’s, discover how to find hidden jobs and make your application for a job stand out from the crowd.

Cornwall
COMPASS

Motiv-8 are proud to be a delivery partner on behalf of Cornwall Council delivering employability services to young people, throughout Cornwall. The project is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
The aim of COMPASS is to offer a flexible, person-centred approach to supporting young people aged 18-24 years, who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) or at risk of NEET with a particular focus on young people for whom SEND (special educational needs or disability) or SEMH (social, emotional, mental health) issues present a barrier to progression.

Motiv-8 U
Motiv-8 U provides support for people to increase confidence and motivation, helping to inspire and coach them in learning and developing skills to assist them towards employability. It will support people through an individual-led approach into further education, training or employment. On some occasions all three!

CLLD is a locally managed funding programme that targets selected areas in Cornwall to encourage local organisations and groups to suggest, design and deliver projects that contribute to increased employment, develop businesses and improve opportunities to enhance local communities. - Skills & training analysis and identification of areas of development
- Introductions and warm handovers to training and education providers
- A five day employability routeway
- Bespoke employer engagement support
- Links with local employers and routes into employment

Motiv-8 Connect
Motiv-8 Connect is a programme that supports people in the West of Cornwall who are aged 50 +.
Motiv-8’s experienced coaches work 1-2-1 with individuals to help participants to develop and improve their self-confidence, self-esteem and challenge any limiting beliefs. They will also be given help and guidance on job searches and interview techniques.
Motiv-8 will help them feel supported, prepared and arm them with an updated CV, renewed enthusiasm and energy to find their perfect job. Finding the job that suits them, fits their lifestyle and develops new life experiences.
It is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and managed by the Community Led Local Development (CLLD)
