Motiv-8 are delighted to have been awarded the Silver Employer Recognition Award as part of our continued commitment to pledge, demonstrate and advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and we align our values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Motiv-8 currently have a workforce that is made up of 30% of employees who have previously served in the armed forces and their Director Phil Sampson served as an officer for 32 years in the Royal Marines.
The organisation is very proud to have received the award and it will continue to support those who have served their country or would like to become a part of the Reservist community. The Silver Award requires Motiv-8 to proactively demonstrate that the service personnel/armed forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged as part of their recruiting and selection processes and Motiv-8 commit to offer any ex-service personnel an interview, as long as they meet the minimum criteria for the role.
Motiv-8 also pledges its support to those who are currently serving as reservists and to those who would like to join the reservists during their employment with Motiv-8. Reservists are awarded additional days paid leave to be able to carry out their duties without any negative impact on their financial or employed status rights.
Motiv-8 actively ensures that our workforce are aware of the positive policies towards defence people issues. This is demonstrated by the following quote from Dave Bond, Director of Operations, who is the Detachment Commander for the Crediton Army Cadet Force.
“As a Military Veteran I initially struggled to fit into civilian life and was therefore very happy to be appointed by Motiv-8 who fully appreciated the skills I could offer. I was mentored by a veteran in the organisation who could identify and understood my background and offered me advice on how civilian organisations operate and the cultural differences from the forces”
Ed Atter, Chief Executive Officer said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this Silver Award which recognises our commitment to supporting military veterans and the wider armed forces family. We look forward to building on this award by developing more programmes and delivering more support where it is needed. We are proud to empower veterans to fulfil their potential and enable them to develop happy and fulfilling lives“
Motiv-8 also runs coaching and mentoring programmes across the UK to support service people transitioning to civilian life.
